UCSD Proposes Lower Tax Rate
Proposed Tax Rate is Lower than in FY 2004
Union Community School District says its proposed tax rate for FY27 is lower than it was back in 2004.
The tax rate is going down to 11.404 - that’s a 3.18% drop from last year, nearly 0.8 lower than it was in 2022, and actually lower than the district’s tax rate back in 2004. District leaders say the average tax rate since FY04 has been 12.177, making the proposed FY27 rate nearly 0.7 below that long-term average.
Superintendent John Howard says the drop reflects continued efforts to reduce the property tax burden while maintaining district operations. The proposed rate will still go through the formal budget process, but for local property owners, it’s a notable shift worth watching.
