Dysart drops seasonal overnight parking ban; snow rules still apply

The old November-to-April ban is gone, the city says. Posted signs and declared snow emergencies still determine where vehicles can stay.

Dysart drivers will have a different winter parking rule to remember: the city says its seasonal overnight parking ban has been removed.

The change ends the restriction that prohibited overnight parking on city streets from November 15 through April 1, according to an update on the city’s official website. Drivers still have to follow posted parking signs.

Snow emergencies are a separate matter. When the city declares one, all vehicles must be removed from city streets for 48 hours or until the emergency is officially declared over, whichever comes first, the city says.

Dysart says snow-emergency notices will appear on its website and Facebook page. The end of the seasonal ban does not mean drivers can leave vehicles on the street during a declared emergency.

The council adopted Ordinance 332 on October 23. Its official summary says the measure amends the city’s stopping, standing and parking provisions. A complete copy is available for inspection at City Hall, 601 Wilson Street, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
