2026 Voting Guide for La Porte City and Dysart

Residents of La Porte City and Dysart vote Tuesday, November 3. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both counties. Check your assigned polling place before leaving home.
LA PORTE CITY (BLACK HAWK COUNTY)
The county precinct list places La Porte City, Big Creek and Spring Creek voters at Union High School, 200 Adams St., La Porte City. The county has posted a La Porte City sample ballot. Confirm your assigned location with the state polling-place lookup or the Black Hawk County Election Office, since locations can change by election.
Black Hawk County begins in-person absentee voting and mailing requested ballots October 14. Voter preregistration and requests for a mailed absentee ballot must reach the election office by 5 p.m. October 19. In-person absentee voting at the Black Hawk County Courthouse ends at 4:30 p.m. November 2. The county has not yet posted its satellite-voting schedule.
DYSART (TAMA COUNTY)
Tama County lists the Dysart Community Building, 418 Main St., as the Dysart precinct polling place for this election. The county has posted a candidate list and says it will add sample ballots and a public notice when available. Call the Tama County Auditor at 641-484-2740, extension 3, if you need to confirm your polling place.
DEADLINES FOR BOTH COUNTIES
Iowa’s voter preregistration deadline is October 19. A request for a mailed absentee ballot must be received by the voter’s county auditor by 5 p.m. October 19. Completed absentee ballots must reach the auditor by 8 p.m. Election Day; a postmark alone is insufficient. Eligible voters can register after the preregistration deadline, including at their polling place on Election Day, with proof of identity and residence. Check the county office for its in-person absentee hours.
